DEICHBRAND Festival 2027: AnnenMayKantereit, CRO and Steve Aoki Lead First Wave

DEICHBRAND Festival 2027 has opened its next chapter with a first wave that already feels built for a very loud weekend by the North Sea. From 15–18 July 2027, the Cuxhaven/Nordholz site will welcome a 31-act opening announcement led by AnnenMayKantereit, CRO, FiNCH, Tream, Alligatoah and Steve Aoki.

This is not the finished programme. DEICHBRAND says the bill will grow to roughly 100 acts, with more names still to come. But as a starting point, the festival has covered a lot of ground: German indie and pop, rap, punk, electronic music, singalong songwriting and several bands capable of turning a field into a bouncing mass before sunset.

A first wave with six very different routes to the main stage

The top of this announcement works because it refuses to settle into one lane. AnnenMayKantereit bring the kind of songs that sound made for tens of thousands of voices at once, powered by Henning May’s instantly recognisable vocal delivery. CRO offers the opposite kind of charisma: light-footed rap-pop, melodic hooks and a catalogue that can move from reflective to celebratory without losing the crowd.

FiNCH and Tream push the first wave toward a more unruly party mood. Both understand the value of a massive, uncomplicated chorus, and both should make sense in DEICHBRAND’s late-night ecosystem. Alligatoah, meanwhile, brings the sharper edge. His theatrical presentation and satirical writing have always made him more than a standard rap booking.

Then there is Steve Aoki. Whatever slot he receives, subtlety will not be the point. His addition gives the programme a global electronic draw and almost guarantees one of the weekend’s biggest spectacle sets. The interesting question is not whether it will be chaotic, but how far the festival can let that chaos run.

German pop and indie are doing serious work here

Underneath the first six names, DEICHBRAND has stacked the lineup with artists who can carry major singalong moments of their own. Provinz have become specialists in emotionally direct indie-pop, while Clueso remains one of Germany’s most dependable live songwriters. Mark Forster and Bosse add polished festival-scale pop without making the bill feel interchangeable.

Amy Macdonald is a particularly smart inclusion. Her catalogue has travelled well across European festival stages for years, and the combination of acoustic drive, rock dynamics and immediately familiar choruses should translate perfectly to a North Sea crowd. KAFFKIEZ and Zimmer90 represent a newer generation of German alternative pop, while Ritter Lean brings a more youthful, loose-limbed energy.

There is also room for artists who sit between neat genre labels. MOLA writes pop with a bruised, restless streak. ANAÏS and Mariybu add distinct voices to the undercard, and Lost in Hollywood arrive as one of the names worth circling early if you prefer finding a future favourite before the larger crowd catches up.

Rap, attitude and the art of the festival one-liner

DEICHBRAND has never treated rap as a side category, and this first wave keeps that tradition intact. SSIO can turn dry humour and heavyweight beats into a set that feels both technically sharp and joyfully ridiculous. JUJU brings command, precision and hooks that can cut through a huge outdoor system.

PA69 are built for the kind of audience that wants the barrier and the back rows to feel equally involved. The masks, the irreverence and the collective energy should make their appearance one of the weekend’s most photographed sets. FiNCH, Tream, CRO and Alligatoah all approach rap from different angles, which means this part of the programme already has variety rather than a single repeated sound.

That breadth matters. A mixed festival works best when every change of style feels intentional, and the jump from SSIO to Amy Macdonald, or from PA69 to Steve Aoki, is exactly the kind of contrast that gives a four-day event its personality.

The guitars have not been forgotten

The rock and punk side of the announcement is deeper than a quick glance might suggest. DONOTS are practically engineered for German festival fields: experienced, energetic and completely comfortable turning a large crowd into active participants. Sondaschule bring ska-punk bounce, while Rogers and Massendefekt keep the German punk contingent strong.

The Subways offer scrappy British indie-rock with a catalogue full of songs that work best when played fast and loud. Australia’s Press Club should bring a rawer, more urgent charge, and Switzerland’s Breakdown of Sanity give the first wave its heaviest booking. Their presence is a useful reminder that DEICHBRAND is not simply becoming a pop and rap festival with a few guitars around the edges.

Das Lumpenpack and Le Fly complicate that picture in the best way. Both bring humour and crowd interaction into live setups that can move between rock, punk and party music. The result is a guitar programme with several different temperatures, from melodic and playful to genuinely heavy.

Electronic pressure beyond the obvious headline name

Steve Aoki is the immediate electronic headline, but the first wave does not stop there. David Puentez brings a direct, festival-ready dance sound designed for large spaces and instant reactions. His booking should help bridge the programme’s pop audience and its late-night electronic crowd.

The festival’s eventual electronic shape will depend on later announcements, stage assignments and the final timetable. For now, the presence of Steve Aoki and David Puentez gives DEICHBRAND a clear high-energy foundation. More names in this lane would not be surprising as the lineup expands toward the roughly 100 acts promised by the organisers.

The complete DEICHBRAND 2027 first wave

The 31 artists confirmed so far are:

AnnenMayKantereit, CRO, FiNCH, Tream, Alligatoah, Steve Aoki, Provinz, Clueso, SSIO, Mark Forster, Bosse, Amy Macdonald, DONOTS, JUJU, KAFFKIEZ, PA69, David Puentez, Sondaschule, Das Lumpenpack, Ritter Lean, The Subways, Zimmer90, Breakdown of Sanity, Rogers, Le Fly, Massendefekt, ANAÏS, Mariybu, Press Club, MOLA and Lost in Hollywood.

The festival has not announced a day split or performance times for these artists. Until that information arrives, treat every clash prediction as guesswork and keep travel plans flexible.

What this announcement tells us about DEICHBRAND 2027

First, the festival is leaning into its strongest identity rather than chasing a single genre trend. This is a lineup for groups of friends who do not all share the same playlist. One person can wait for AnnenMayKantereit, another can prioritise Breakdown of Sanity, and a third can build the weekend around Steve Aoki and David Puentez.

Second, the German-language programme is not filler between international names. CRO, Alligatoah, Provinz, Clueso, SSIO, Juju and the rest give this first wave its centre of gravity. That makes the festival feel rooted in its audience rather than assembled from a generic touring circuit.

Finally, there is plenty of space left. Thirty-one acts are enough to establish the mood, but not enough to reveal the final balance of stages, days or genres. DEICHBRAND has confirmed that more announcements will follow, so the most useful way to read this poster is as a confident opening statement rather than a finished document.

Planning the weekend

Choose the right ticket package. The festival separates event access, camping and extras, while bundles combine several elements. Check exactly what is included before buying, particularly if you plan to camp or arrive early.

Do not plan around an imaginary timetable. No official day or stage split is attached to this first wave. Wait for the festival’s own schedule before booking transport that depends on seeing one specific artist.

Prepare for coastal weather. A North Sea festival can move between sun, wind and rain quickly. Waterproof layers, secure tent equipment and footwear that can survive soft ground are sensible even if the forecast looks friendly.

Watch the next announcement. The current bill is expected to grow substantially. If your favourite genre feels lightly represented, later waves may change the picture.

Use the official sources. The DEICHBRAND lineup page is the best place to check additions, while the festival’s ticket pages explain the different access, camping and upgrade options.

A strong opening, not the final word

DEICHBRAND Festival 2027 has started with a lineup that understands the event’s appeal: big communal songs, sharp genre changes and enough live-wire energy to keep four days moving. AnnenMayKantereit, CRO, Alligatoah and Steve Aoki provide the immediate scale, but the value is just as visible lower down, where punk, indie, rap and emerging pop names give the poster depth.

There are still major questions to answer, including the remaining artists, day splits, stages and set times. That is exactly what a first wave should leave open. For now, the festival has given fans a credible reason to start planning for Cuxhaven/Nordholz on 15–18 July 2027.
